PESHAWAR, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: The Peshawar High Court granted Noreen Niazi transit bail on Monday, directing her to seek relief from an Islamabad court by Aug. 20.
Justice Arshad Ali approved the temporary pre-arrest bail against bonds worth Rs80,000 and two sureties.
The order said the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registered the first information report in Islamabad on July 27.
The case invokes provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 and the Pakistan Penal Code.
Niazi’s lawyers argued that authorities had falsely implicated her and misinterpreted statements attributed to her. The order noted that the record contained allegations but no other cogent evidence connecting her to the alleged offence.

“In the circumstances of the case, the petitioner’s request, being reasonable, merits consideration,” the order said.
The NCCIA accuses Niazi of circulating false and inflammatory content about state institutions during an interview and through social media posts. She denies the allegations.

Niazi is the sister of imprisoned former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. The Lahore High Court previously granted her interim protection and directed her to approach the appropriate court in Islamabad.
