TikToker Rajab Butt and seven others, including notable associates Haider Shah and Maan Dogar, by incorporating sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) following allegations of harassment and threats made through TikTok.
The decision to apply PECA provisions came after Umar Fayaz, a social media artist, lodged a complaint alleging that Butt and his group engaged in harassment and issued threats during a live TikTok session.
The incident reportedly escalated when Dogar, accompanied by armed men, allegedly appeared at Fayaz’s residence, leading to verbal abuses and threats.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Investigation reported that legal experts are currently reviewing the case details to ensure a thorough application of the cybercrime laws. Meanwhile, all accused individuals have been granted interim bail and are cooperating with the ongoing police investigation, which will now consider both traditional legal frameworks and specific cybercrime regulations.
