In a pioneering move, Netflix is set to unveil its first Pakistan-themed series titled “Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo.” Boasting a stellar ensemble, the series will feature iconic Pakistani talents such as Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, and Ahad Raza Mir. The show has been adapted from Farhat Ishtiaq’s lauded 2013 Urdu novel, delving into the intricate journey of Sikandar, a Harvard law student, and Liza, an artist with a turbulent past. Their fates entwine, spinning a tale of deep human connection.
This series reunites Fawad and Mahira following their acclaimed film “The Legend of Maula Jatt.” At the same time, Sanam and Ahad bring their star power after successes in other high-profile projects. The cast also boasts names like Hamza Ali Abbasi, Bilal Ashraf, Maya Ali, and others, enhancing its allure. Under the direction of Momina Duraid Films, the production will span multiple countries, including Italy, the UK, and Pakistan, ensuring a rich, culturally immersive backdrop.
Adapting Literary Genius for the Screen
Farhat Ishtiaq’s works aren’t strangers to adaptations; several of her narratives, including “Humsafar” and “Diyar-e-Dil,” have been converted into successful Pakistani television serials. Another upcoming Netflix series, “Heeramandi” by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is set to highlight Lahore’s historic region. “Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo” is a monumental stride for Netflix and Pakistan’s entertainment industry and a testament to the power of storytelling that binds global audiences.
