TEHRAN: A Pakistani Shia delegation attended Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s farewell ceremony at Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla, joining foreign religious leaders and political figures in Tehran.
The Shia scholars from Pakistan paid respects before the body of Iran’s late supreme leader during the ceremony.
Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi led an official Pakistani delegation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also travelled to Tehran for state ceremonies.
The Pakistani representatives conveyed condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan.
Iranian media said delegations from Malaysia, Lebanon, Russia, Senegal, the United States, Mexico, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, China, Pakistan, Tunisia, India, Afghanistan, Norway and Argentina attended the ceremony.
The farewell programme also included religious figures from Indonesia, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq, Morocco, Turkey and Spain.

Iranian Foreign Ministry officials said guests from around 100 countries were expected, including heads of state, parliament speakers, foreign ministers, special representatives and religious figures.
The funeral ceremonies are scheduled to continue before burial at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad on July 9.
