The Pakistan cricket team has refused to sign the extended three-month contract provided to them after the expiry of the last contract of December 31, as par media reports.
The team, which is touring New Zealand, has expressed its concerns over the time period of the new contract in a meeting and have informed team manager Naveek Akram Cheema that they want a sitting with the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan before making any decision.
“The players led by captain Misbah-ul-Haq and other seniors are not happy with the three-month extended contracts because they believe it deprives them of pay increases for a three-month period,”according to sources.
Players were of the view that the current contract was drafted under former chairman Najam Sethi and they already had reservations pertaining to certain clauses.
“Now the players want the board to give them a one-year contract for 2015, backdated from January 1 with increased pay scales and revised clauses,” claimed the report.
The report added that clauses related to commercial endorsements and individual sponsorships were also heavily cricticised by some of the players.
