On July 8, 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled a 15-member squad for a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, set to begin on July 20 in Dhaka, led by captain Salman Ali Agha.

Salman Ali Agha will lead the squad, as Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf are both out due to injuries, according to the PCB. Shadab successfully underwent shoulder surgery in the UK, while Rauf sustained a Grade 1 hamstring injury during the 2025 Major League Cricket season. Fast bowler Salman Mirza, who took nine wickets in four PSL matches for the Lahore Qalandars, has earned a call-up. The squad will arrive in Dhaka on July 16 for matches scheduled on July 20, 22, and 24.

The squad features Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, and Mohammad Haris, according to The News International. Pakistan’s 3-0 T20I series victory over Bangladesh in May 2025 has boosted their confidence. The series, held at Shere-e-Bangla Stadium, comes after Pakistan’s exclusion from the 2026 World Clubs T20, prompting a renewed focus on achieving success in bilateral series.

Salman Mirza’s inclusion in the squad, replacing Rauf, underscores his impressive performance, with an average of 15.00 and an economy rate of 9.64. His pace complements bowlers like Mohammad Abbas Afridi, enhancing Pakistan’s bowling attack. The Pakistan Cricket Board’s selection decision, made during Shadab’s recovery, reflects strategic depth, with 40% of the squad under the age of 30, as they aim for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
