ISLAMABAD: The price of petrol in Pakistan fell by Rs4.08 to Rs331.95 per litre on August 4. OGRA also cut diesel and kerosene prices.

High-speed diesel fell Rs2.45 to Rs389.93 per litre from Rs392.38.

Kerosene dropped Rs3.58 to Rs301.64 from Rs305.22, according to an Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority notification.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority now updates petroleum prices daily via its price publications portal.

The system uses a seven-day rolling average of international refined-product prices.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said daily revisions pass global market changes to consumers more quickly.

The federal government shifted from weekly reviews to daily pricing on July 17. It had previously replaced fortnightly reviews with weekly pricing.

Under the cabinet-approved framework, OGRA sets ex-depot prices without seeking fresh federal approval each day.

Rates announced on Fridays remain valid throughout the weekend. Any change to the petroleum levy still requires Finance Division approval.
