The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports said the document complies with International Civil Aviation Organization standards and supports electronic identity checks and e-gate use at airports.

Applicants can generate a Payment Slip Identification number through the Passport Fee Asaan application or web portal. Payments can be made through internet banking, ATMs, JazzCash, Easypaisa and participating 1-Link bank branches.

The e-passport facility has been available at passport field offices across Pakistan since August 16, 2023.
