Pakistan openers Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub have been ruled out of the Pakistan-Australia ODI series because of injuries, the Pakistan Cricket Board said Wednesday.
The PCB said both batters would not be available for selection for the three-match ODI series, which begins on May 30 during Australia’s tour of Pakistan. The board said both players will continue rehabilitation under the PCB medical panel.
The series opens at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday, May 30, with the match starting at 4:30 pm local time. ESPNcricinfo also lists the first ODI as a day-night fixture in Rawalpindi.
The second and third ODIs will be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on June 2 and June 4. Both matches are also scheduled to start at 4:30 pm local time, according to the PCB schedule cited by the International Cricket Council.
The PCB said further updates on squad selection and player fitness would be issued later.
The series marks Australia’s first ODI tour of Pakistan since 2022, when Pakistan won the three-match series 2-1. Earlier this year, Pakistan also completed a 3-0 T20I series sweep over Australia in Lahore.
