LAHORE: The Pak ID vehicle transfer service allows buyers and sellers of Punjab-registered vehicles to complete biometric checks and submit transfer information through their smartphones.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) provides facial and fingerprint verification through the application.
Punjab’s Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department formally launched the service on February 16. NADRA and the Punjab Information Technology Board collaborated with the department on the system.
A seller must open Pak ID, select “Apply Digital Cards”, and then choose “Vehicle.” The application displays vehicles registered under the user’s identity.
The seller can select the relevant vehicle and tap “Transfer Now.” The application then requests facial verification under suitable lighting and against a plain background.
After completing the facial check, the seller must follow the on-screen instructions for fingerprint verification. The seller then enters the buyer’s Computerised National Identity Card number and selects the relevant processing category.
Pak ID generates a tracking ID and PIN after the seller submits the application. The seller must share both identifiers with the buyer.

The buyer enters those identifiers in Pak ID, completes biometric verification and pays the applicable fee. The listed payment channels include e-Sahulat, Raast, Easy Paisa, Jazz Cash and debit or credit cards.
Punjab Excise said the online service also supports overseas Pakistanis and people who cannot easily visit an excise office. The department processes the ownership change after it receives the required verification and payment.
