Oman’s authorities have initiated a two-month ban on the capture and trade of kingfish.

The Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources (MAFWR) states that this ban, aligning with Ministerial Resolution No. (230/2014), will be effective from August 15 to October 15, 2024. Catching or trading kingfish within the Sultanate of Oman is prohibited during this period

The ministry underscores that the ban promotes sustainable fishing practices and conserves the fish population. Before this Beforee, the ministry required all fishermen, fish transporters, and related businesses to register their existing kingfish stocks and comply with the established regulations.

Furthermore, the Oman government has stressed the importance of cooperation from all relevant parties to avoid legal consequences for any violations.
