Oleksandr Usyk reclaimed the undisputed heavyweight boxing title with a dominant fifth-round knockout victory over Britain’s Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on July 19, 2025.

The Ukrainian star successfully defended his WBC, WBA, and WBO belts while regaining the IBF title he had vacated the previous year. Usyk’s performance highlighted his superior skill as he evaded Dubois’ power punches and landed precise counterattacks in a masterclass display.

Usyk improved his record to 24-0, becoming a three-time undisputed champion, twice in the heavyweight division and once in the cruiserweight division. After the fight, he reflected, “38 is still young, remember! It’s just the beginning! I want to thank Jesus Christ, my team, and Wembley—thank you so much! This is for the people. Right now, I don’t have any plans for what’s next. I just want to rest. I want to spend quality time with my family, including my wife and children. I need to rest for two or three months.”

Dubois, 11 years younger, started aggressively but couldn’t penetrate Usyk’s defence. The turning point came in round five with an overhand right that floored Dubois, followed by a devastating left to the chin. Dubois, now 20-3, said: “I have to commend him on the performance, I gave everything I had. Take no credit away from that man. I’ll be back. I was just fighting, trying to pick up round by round. It is what it is.”

The bout was a rematch of their controversial 2023 fight, held in Wrocław, Poland, where Usyk won by ninth-round knockout following a disputed low blow call. Usyk hinted at potential future opponents, including Tyson Fury (whom he defeated twice last year), Derek Chisora, Anthony Joshua, and Joseph Parker. He stated, “We might have three choices: Fury, Derek Chisora, and Anthony Joshua. Perhaps Joseph Parker as well. However, I can’t say right now because I want to go back home.”
