The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has decided to supply gas to only domestic consumers in Punjab during the winter season, stated a spokesman for the main gas supplier in the province earlier today.
The spokesman said SNGPL has sent its gas load management schedule to the petroleum ministry according to which the industrial sector and CNG stations in the province will remain without gas supply throughout the winter season.
The decision was taken in light of the expected increase in gas demand with domestic consumers turning on their water geysers and heaters during the cold season.
The SNGPL spokesman said that provision of gas supply to domestic consumers was the company’s topmost priority.
