Nicolas Cage will star in “Spider-Man Noir,” a live-action series set to stream on MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video.
MGM Studios announced the series on Tuesday. Variety reported that development began in February 2023. Cage was not initially included in the series.
Amazon MGM Studios’ Vernon Sanders highlighted the Marvel universe expansion through “Spider-Man Noir” as a special opportunity. He praised Nicolas Cage as an ideal choice for the new superhero.
Cage played Spider-Man Noir in the animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” This series marks the character’s first live-action portrayal.
The official logline states, “The story of an ageing, down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, grappling with his past life as the city’s only superhero.”
Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot are the series’ co-showrunners. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal will serve as executive producers.
Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios are producing the series. Sony previously released live-action films like Venom and its sequel, Let There Be Carnage, Morbius, and Madame Web.
