New Zealand dominated Pakistan in the first New Zealand vs Pakistan T20 match on March 16, 2025, winning nine wickets at Hagley Oval. The victory gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the five-match series, with Pakistan crumbling under pressure.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan faltered against a sharp New Zealand attack, bowled out for 91 in 18.4 overs. Kyle Jamieson struck early, dismissing Mohammad Haris (0) and Irfan Khan (1) as Pakistan slumped to 1-3. Khushdil Shah’s 32 was the top score, with Agha Salman (18) and Jahandad Khan (17) offering resistance. Jacob Duffy led with 4 wickets, Jamieson took 3, and Ish Sodhi claimed 2.

Chasing 92, Tim Seifert and Finn Allen unleashed a 53-run powerplay stand, showcasing explosive batting. The Kiwis wrapped up the New Zealand vs Pakistan T20 chase in just 11 overs, sealing a convincing win. Zakary Foulkes chipped in with a wicket, rounding out a stellar team effort.

Pakistan’s XI featured captain Salman Ali Agha, Hasan Nawaz, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, while New Zealand’s lineup included Michael Bracewell (c), Tim Robinson, and Daryl Mitchell. The New Zealand vs Pakistan T20 clash highlighted the hosts’ bowling and batting prowess.

The second New Zealand vs. Pakistan T20 match is set for Tuesday. Pakistan needs a comeback to level the series. New Zealand’s early dominance sets the tone for an intense rivalry ahead.
