Authorities have temporarily closed popular tourist destinations Naran and Babusar Top due to heavy snowfall and hazardous road conditions.
The Deputy Commissioner of Mansehra has issued an advisory urging tourists to avoid travelling to these areas and other higher-altitude locations. The advisory notes that the roads have become slippery and dangerous due to the ongoing snowstorm.
“We advise all visitors to avoid these areas as the roads are treacherous and pose significant risks. Tourists can consider safer alternatives like Shogran and Balakot, which are still accessible,” the Deputy Commissioner stated.
Significant snowfall in Batakundi, Naran, and Babusar Top has disrupted travel and led to the complete closure of Babusar Top. Authorities are turning back travellers attempting to proceed beyond Batakundi for their safety.
The district administration recommends that tourists planning trips to the northern regions first contact the tourism department’s helpline (1422) for the latest updates on weather and road conditions.
With temperatures dropping below freezing, Naran has been declared closed for the winter season. The area typically welcomes visitors from March through early November, but the severe winter conditions make travel impractical.
Emergency helplines can assist and update those en route or planning visits. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and will issue updates as necessary.
