The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a significant upgrade to its ID card system, launching a non-chip National ID card with smart features that enhance security and affordability for Pakistani citizens.
The new card, available for renewals, modifications, or replacements, includes bilingual information in English and Urdu, a QR code for digital identity access via the Pak ID mobile app, special markers and lifetime validity for organ donors and persons with disabilities, and free issuance for first-time 18-year-old applicants under normal processing.

The fee structure for the non-chip ID card is PKR 400 for normal processing (31 days), PKR 1,150 for urgent (15 days), and PKR 2,150 for executive (9 days). For comparison, the Smart CNIC costs PKR 750 (normal), PKR 1,500 (urgent), and PKR 2,500 (executive).

Applications can be submitted at NADRA registration centres or online. The initiative reflects NADRA’s commitment to digital transformation, ensuring secure and accessible identification for all citizens.
