National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has officially launched the countrywide campaign for re-verification of Computerized National Identity Cards.

NADRA has established the helpline capable of handling 10,000 calls per day and a gateway of 150,000 SMS per day to facilitate people who will report suspected CNICs issued to aliens.

NADRA will ensure utilization of all its resources to achieve the desired objective of removing aliens from Authority’s database within the given timeline.

The Authority has completed all arrangements to make the national drive a success.

NADRA has also prepared a media strategy for awareness of masses in this regard.

The Authority has also launched a reward scheme under which those giving information about presence of foreigners with Pakistani identity cards or passports would be rewarded ten thousand rupees per person.

A Short Messaging Service (SMS) for family members verification has been introduced which allows registered Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) holder to check who else is registered under same family tree.

If there is any person who is not a family member and registered as a part of family, one can report it to National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), so that Authority can take appropriate action against such individuals.

Issuing procedure to verify NADRA CNIC through SMS, the Authority on Monday said one can send CNIC number (with or without dashes) to 8008 and in return he/she will get names of all registered persons in family.

If you are satisfied with the list, reply message with 2, but if there is any person registered as your family member you do not know Ä notify the Authority by replying with 1.

Family Heads, or even if you are not head of a family, can send their NADRA CNIC number to 8008, and in response they will get names of people within their family tree.

With this 8008 service, one can identify any unknown names/persons who are appearing in his/her family tree. All such unknown names or persons should be reported to NADRA immediately.
