Karachi: The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) on Wednesday expressed grave concerns over the arrest of party workers en route back home after attending a protest in front of the Karachi Press Club.

Muttahida‘s central decision-making body demanded Prime Minister, Federal Interior Minister and Sindh Chief Minister to take immediate notice of the arrests of political workers.

It should be mentioned here that the rangers personnel overnight captured six party workers, including the Joint Sector in-charge and the unit in-charge, from Korangi.

The MQM also demanded the security high-ups to release all party workers and sympathizers.

Terming the arrest of political workers as wholly uncalled-for, the MQM said several of the party’s workers and office-bearers who were arrested earlier, have already been extra-judicially assassinated.

MQM inveighed that the life of protesting workers is being made miserable through persecution. The committee asked, “Why are political activities prohibited in the name of operation?”
