Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has challenged amendment in Sindh Local Government Act in the Sindh High Court on Thursday.

The petition, to challenge the amendments, was filed by MQM nominee for Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar, Khawaja Azharul Hassan and other leaders in SHC.

In the petition, they termed the amendments in the Local Government Act ‘violation’ of Article 266. It added that according to the constitution, balloting for reserved seats should be held secretly.

Talking to media outside the court, MQM leaders said, they were fighting the case of people in the courts and assemblies.
