MQM announces “Day of Mourning” tommorow

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would observe a ‘day of mourning’ on Friday after four bodies recovered from Karachi’s Memon Goth area off the Superhighway a day earlier were identified today as those of its activists, according to media reports.

The party announced that it would “stage peaceful protests” against what it calls extra judicial killings and kidnappings of its activists.

However reports of aerial firing and shutting down of shops are being recieved even now as the situation turned tense all over the city.

Since today was a holiday, large numbers of people thronged eateries and shopping centres all over the city, only to turn back disappointed since most commercial establishments have been closed down.

It is thought that the city will also wear a deserted look tomorrow as well.
