Colombian Singer J Balvin, Known as the “Prince of Reggaeton”, recently had a moment to remember while attending the NASCAR Cup Series in Bristol on Sunday. Despite being a worldwide celebrity, he was unsure about the protocols for meeting the legend, Michael Jordan, often called the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) in the sports world.
The Colombian artist found himself near Jordan in the pit area. When he attempted to approach the basketball legend to exchange greetings, he faced a brief hiccup as Jordan’s security detail gestured for him to keep his distance. Nevertheless, Jordan quickly intervened, inviting JBalvin closer and greeting him warmly.
Collaborations Breeding Friendship
This cordial encounter is a testament to the blossoming relationship between the reggaeton superstar and the NBA legend, rooted in their business collaborations. They have teamed up for projects associated with Jordan’s apparel line with Nike, dubbed ‘Air Jordan’. Through this collaboration, JBalvin worked alongside Nike and Michael Jordan, launching unique footwear designs that graced Jordan’s feet, showcasing a successful fusion of music and sports merchandising.
Expressing his exhilaration and gratitude, JBalvin took to social media to share his sentiments. “Being able to work alongside individuals I have looked up to, and now calling them my team and friends, is an immense honour. We are colleagues and ambassadors promoting the beauty of a Medellin sunset through my own NASCAR vehicle. This journey is a reminder never to cease dreaming and relentlessly pursue your ambitions. A heartfelt thank you to Jordan” conveyed the visibly elated artist on his online platforms.
