Khalifa wrote that she had believed in Spain and celebrated the team as her adopted “home country,” while acknowledging that she has no Spanish ancestry. She had publicly supported Spain during the tournament.
The wager shown in the post backed Spain to lift the trophy rather than win within regulation time. That distinction allowed the bet to succeed after the final went into extra time.
