Meta Platforms announced Monday that its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses now feature AI video capabilities and real-time language translation. Introduced at the annual Connect conference in September, these features are available to those in the “Early Access Program.”
The v11 software update, which includes these enhancements, started rolling out on Monday. It equips Meta’s AI chatbot assistant with video, enabling smart glasses to process visuals and answer real-time questions.
Additionally, the glasses can now translate speech instantly between English, Spanish, French, and Italian. Users will hear translations through the glasses’ open-ear speakers or see them as transcripts on their phones.
Meta also integrated Shazam into the smart glasses, allowing users in the US and Canada to identify songs. Further updates include tools for setting reminders and scanning QR codes and phone numbers using voice commands.
