FOIA-linked details say missing retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. William Neil McCasland held roles with several defence-linked research organisations before he disappeared in New Mexico.
McCasland, 68, vanished on February 27. Authorities have not publicly linked his disappearance to classified programs, research projects or UFO-related investigations.
The new details were released after a Freedom of Information Act request filed by history researcher Sara Bondink.
The listed organisations include Sandia National Laboratories, Riverside Research, Kirtland Partnership and a university-affiliated research centre.

The McCasland was trying to step away from professional roles before his disappearance. It also said reports cited concerns about mental decline.
McCasland previously led the Air Force Research Laboratory, a role that later drew public attention because of online UFO-related claims. His name has also appeared in public discussion of alleged UFO files.
Police earlier released a recording from an anonymous caller who claimed McCasland’s name appeared in UFO files expected for release. No official body has confirmed that claim.
Authorities have not announced a major breakthrough since McCasland was reported missing. The investigation remains open.
