The Punjab Government has launched the Chief Minister Roshan Gharana Program, aimed at providing solar home solutions to households consuming up to 100 units of electricity across Punjab.
“Within the next two months, we will initiate a significant project to reduce the electricity bills for the public,” announced Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif during the 13th meeting of the Provincial Cabinet.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the model house for the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” project, which will allocate Rs 1.5 million for constructing houses on plots up to 5 Marla in urban areas and 10 Marla in rural areas. To support borrowers, Chief Minister Sharif directed that no monthly installments be collected for the first three months of the scheme.
Further advancements in Punjab’s public transport were discussed, including the introduction of electric buses following the Speedo buses. The Cabinet approved the procurement of 27 electric buses for Lahore, expected by December, and showcased a model of the electric bus during the meeting.
To enhance power supply efficiency, the Cabinet sanctioned the establishment of the Punjab Grid Company, which will directly supply electricity to industries, and also considered supplying affordable electricity to the Industrial Park via direct transmission lines from Bhiki, Balloki, and Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park.
