Manchester United’s search for a first Premier League win continues. The team drew 1-1 with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday. Meanwhile, Everton celebrated the opening of their new stadium with a confident 2-0 victory over Brighton.
Manager Ruben Amorim faced more frustration as his team dropped points. The result followed a narrow 1-0 loss to Arsenal in their season opener.
United had a golden chance to take the lead in the first half. The referee awarded a penalty after a VAR review confirmed Calvin Bassey fouled Mason Mount. Captain Bruno Fernandes stepped up but uncharacteristically blasted his spot-kick high over the bar.
The visitors finally scored on the hour mark. Defender Leny Yoro’s header took a heavy deflection off Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz and sailed into the net for an own goal.
Fulham argued that VAR should have reviewed a potential push by Yoro in the build-up. The home team found a deserved equaliser 17 minutes from time. Substitute Emile Smith Rowe, a former Arsenal midfielder, arrived unmarked in the box to turn in Alex Iwobi’s cross.

“We were OK until the goal, and then we were not smart in that moment,” said Amorim after the match.
Everton began a new chapter in style. The club opened their new 53,000-seat stadium with a commanding 2-0 win over Brighton. The Toffees said an emotional goodbye to their historic Goodison Park home last season. They marked the move with a performance full of promise.
Jack Grealish, Everton’s marquee summer signing, was the standout performer. The midfielder provided assists for both goals. Iliman Ndiaye wrote his name into the history books. He scored the first-ever goal at the new stadium, meeting Grealish’s drilled cross at the back post in the 23rd minute.
James Garner sealed the win early in the second half. He unleashed a blistering strike from the edge of the area after a neat lay-off from Grealish. Brighton created chances but failed to convert. Kaoru Mitoma hit the crossbar, and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford saved a poor penalty from Danny Welbeck.
In other news, Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo insisted he remains committed to the club. His team earned a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace with a goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Nuno directly addressed rumours about his strained relationship with the owner and potential dismissal. “That is nonsense. That does not make any kind of sense,” said the manager when asked if he wanted to leave.
