Manchester City clinched a dramatic 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on April 22, 2025, at the Etihad Stadium, thanks to Matheus Nunes’ stoppage-time winner.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the seventh minute, his powerful 10-yard strike assisted by Omar Marmoush. Aston Villa equalised in the 18th minute via a Marcus Rashford penalty, awarded after a VAR-reviewed foul by Ruben Dias. Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, posed a constant threat but was contained in the second half.

With a draw looming, Nunes, playing as right-back, netted his first league goal for City in the fourth minute of stoppage time, converting Jeremy Doku’s low cross from a tight angle. The goal sparked wild celebrations from Pep Guardiola and fans.
