Malindo, an airline jointly co-owned by Malaysia and Indonesia, has acquired landing rights in Pakistan.
Malindo – Mal for Malaysia and Indo for Indonesia ¬ will start offering its budget air services from the next month. The company has already signed an agreement and the ministry of Defence and Civil Aviation Authority have granted the new operators landing rights in a hush-hush deal.
The airline is a joint venture of Malaysian and Indonesian investment with 51 and 49 per cent shares respectively.
The spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority Pervaiz George said he could neither confirm nor deny about Malindo starting operations in Pakistan. George said he will need some time to comment about the story.
According to sources, the negotiations were kept secret to avoid any possible hindrances.
