The Punjab police have reportedly apprehended a prominent figure in the illicit human trafficking network following the tragic event where a boat carrying numerous individuals, including Pakistanis, capsized off the Greek coast.

The apprehended suspect, identified as Mumtaz Arain, was taken into custody in Punjab’s Vihari region, according to a statement by the Punjab Police spokesperson.
Arain’s mobile phone was confiscated during the arrest, and significant documents and mobile data were also uncovered. The spokesperson added that Arain will now be handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for a thorough investigation. Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Anwar has pledged the commitment of law enforcement to ensure justice for the victims of the Greece boat tragedy and reiterated that all those complicit in the incident would face the full force of the law.
