Established in September 1947 by Maulana Abdul Haq Haqqani, Madressah Haqqania is a prominent Islamic seminary with a history of controversy, including alleged links to high-profile political violence. The seminary has also been a focal point for religious diplomacy, notably under Maulana Haqqani’s leadership, who has sought to bridge divides between Islamabad and Kabul.
In January, governmental officials emphasized the seminary’s ongoing construction projects to expand its educational facilities. These developments signify the seminary’s continued importance in the region’s religious and educational landscape.
