Lone Canadian shooter planned to go to Syria: Police Sources

The shooter who attacked Canada´s parliament in Ottawa was in the city applying for a passport to travel to Syria and he acted alone, the federal police commissioner said yesterday.

The man´s killing of a soldier at a cenotaph in downtown Ottawa and the storming of parliament Wednesday were not linked to an attack on a soldier in Quebec two days earlier, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Commissioner Bob Paulson told a news conference.
