The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has recouped outstanding dues across five districts. In just over a month, through a vigorous recovery campaign, LESCO has managed to recover a colossal sum of over Rs 1.65 billion from a staggering 33,237 defaulters.
LESCO’s campaign’s success is attributed to the joint efforts of its internal task force and local Tehsildars. For instance, in the Northern and Eastern Circles, Chief Engineer O&M (T&G) Zafar Iqbal, supported by respective Tehsildars, recuperated over Rs 379.75 million from 8,345 defaulters combined. These figures are part of the broader recovery landscape where Engineer Anwar Watto, with the help of local Tehsildars, brought in over Rs 215.71 million from 6,036 defaulters from the Central and South Circles.
The campaign’s reach extended further, with Engineer Muhammad Farooq coordinating with Tehsildars to recover more than Rs 220.87 million from 6,557 defaulters in the Nankana and Sheikhupura Circles. Moreover, in the Okara and Kasur Circles, Engineer Abbas Ali, alongside Naib Tehsildar, secured an impressive Rs 248.97 million from 12,299 defaulters.
Recovery from Deceased Defaulters’ Accounts
Adding to the campaign’s intensity, on its 45th day, LESCO, with assistance from Tehsildars, managed to recover more than Rs 11.9 million from the accounts of 400 deceased defaulters across all operational circles. This meticulous operation included the recovery of varying amounts from different circles, indicating LESCO’s commitment to addressing the issue of defaulting comprehensively.
