Two boxers — one a British-Pakistani Muslim, the other Mexican — will fight in the ring at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday, but not before they shared a light laugh at their mutual ‘enemy’, Donald Trump’s expense.
The boxers in question, Amir Khan and Canelo Alvarez, were addressing a press conference when Khan quipped to the press, “You never know, this could be the last fight for me and Canelo here. That’s if Donald Trump becomes president.”
Between Khan’s Muslim background and Alvarez’s Mexican origins, the joke became the comment of the day.
Khan had made an obvious reference to Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from America and build a wall on the U.S. Mexico border.
According to USA Today, it has been announced that Trump, who became the last man standing in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination the same day Khan made this comment, will be attending the fight.
