LOS ANGELES: Luka Doncic will host the Los Angeles Lakers for a four-day minicamp in Slovenia in August, ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin said Wednesday, July 29.
The player-organised gathering will include workouts and golf. Players will also tour Ljubljana and participate in team-building activities before the formal training camp opens in late September.
McMenamin cited a source close to the Lakers. The franchise has not announced the camp’s exact dates.
The Athletic’s Dan Woike said Doncic would cover his teammates’ travel expenses. The invitation also extends to the Lakers’ two-way players, according to Woike’s report.
Doncic enters the first post-LeBron Lakers season as the franchise’s leading player. James joined the Philadelphia 76ers after eight seasons and one championship in Los Angeles, The Guardian reported.
The Lakers have extensively reshaped their roster. New arrivals include Walker Kessler, Quentin Grimes, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Collin Sexton and rookie Cameron Carr.

DeAndre Ayton, Rui Hachimura, Marcus Smart and Luke Kennard also left the team during the offseason, NBC Sports reported.
Los Angeles eliminated the Houston Rockets in last season’s first round. The Oklahoma City Thunder then swept the injury-hit Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals.
