Lahore: Nurses of government hospitals have staged a sit-in for the second consecutive day as a form of protest against the government.

It is pertinent to mention here that nurses had also held a sit-in protest yesterday outside Punjab Assembly. A representative of the Young Nurses Alliance (YNA) had stated that nurses from all government hospitals would converge for the sit-in protest by 10 am.

The nurses’ protest at Faisal Chowk proved to be a hindrance as a traffic jam ensued in the surrounding area due to their protest. Nurses called for implementation of the announced service structure as well as their health risk allowance.

The previous day, nurses’ strike had caused difficulties for citizens as their protest resulted in a traffic jam. Ambulances also had trouble passing through since Shahrah-e-Fatima Jinnah and Mall Road were blocked due to the protest sit-in.

Yesterday after the nurses had protested, Punjab Chief Minister’s Adviser on Health  Khawja Salman Rafeeq had issued a warning to all those who were instigating nurses to go on strike, would face strict action.
