Lahore Blues delivered a championship-winning performance on Thursday, securing the National T20 Cup with a comprehensive nine-wicket triumph over Peshawar at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.

After Peshawar elected to bat first, Lahore’s bowlers immediately seized control. Salman Mirza emerged as the destroyer-in-chief, claiming impressive figures of 4/21 from his four overs. The left-arm spinner dismantled Peshawar’s batting lineup, supported by Mohammad Irfan (2/20) and Mohammad Rizwan, who removed key batsman Sahibzada Farhan for 17.

Peshawar’s innings never gained momentum, stumbling to 110/9 despite a 38-run partnership between captain Iftikhar Ahmed (34) and Mohammad Zulkifal (32). The total proved woefully inadequate against Lahore’s confident batting lineup.

In reply, Lahore Blues reached their target with 24 balls to spare. Openers Imran Butt (11) and Umar Siddiq laid the foundation with a 45-run stand before Siddiq took complete control. The right-hander remained unbeaten on 64 from just 46 deliveries, striking six boundaries and two maximums. Junaid Ali provided perfect support with 30* as the pair guided Lahore to 111/1 in 16 overs.

The victory capped a superb campaign for Lahore Blues, who displayed consistency throughout the competition. Mirza’s match-winning spell earned him Player of the Match honours, while Siddiq’s composed innings exemplified the team’s batting strength.

Lahore Blues’ championship victory marks their return to the top of Pakistan’s domestic T20 cricket. It showcases their all-round abilities in this fast-paced format. This final win sends a strong message to their rivals ahead of future tournaments.
