Australia: South Africa piled up a mammoth 411 as they gave a cricket lesson to a hapless Irish side. And to add further misery the Irish have lost 3 wickets in under 6 overs with only 26 on the board.
It seems the famous ‘Luck of the Irish” has completely deserted them today.
Hashim Amla smashed 159 off 128 balls and Faf du Plessis scored 109, the pair sharing a second wicket stand of 247 off 217 balls.
South Africa surpassed their own total of 408-5 in the previous match against the West Indies. The tournament record is India’s 413-5 against Bermuda in 2007.
Both teams have four points each, but South Africa have played three matches to Ireland’s two.
