MUZAFFARABAD: The LA-1 Mirpur result showed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Azhar Sadiq winning the constituency, according to unofficial figures released Tuesday.
Sadiq secured 15,427 votes in LA-1 Mirpur-I, also known as Dadyal. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Muhammad Afser Shahid finished second with 9,832 votes.
The result remained unofficial and unconfirmed pending certification by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission. The commission had not published the constituency’s certified result on its election results page by Tuesday morning.
Voters cast ballots on Monday, July 27, during the first phase of the 2026 AJK Legislative Assembly elections. Polling covered 13 constituencies across the Mirpur, Bhimber and Kotli districts.

The AJK Election Commission extended polling by 1 hour due to high voter turnout. Voting ended at 6 p.m. instead of the scheduled 5 p.m.
Sadiq, a former AJK minister, joined PML-N on June 29, less than a month before polling. Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam welcomed him into the party.
