Just when Pakistan’s opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad was moving swiftly with his career-best 176, an unexpected bouncer by Corey Anderson hit him on the head and he fell right onto the stumps, giving away a wicket to New Zealand finally.
Shehzad hit a scintillating ton and shared a record-breaking opening stand of 178 with Mohammad Hafeez to steer Pakistan to take complete control on the first day. Anderson got Mohammad Hafeez caught and bowled when he looking solid at 96.
By lunch on day two, Azhar Ali, unbeaten on 73, was accompanied by star batsman Younis Khan as Pakistan moved to 347/2.
