Kirk Medas, a cherished star of MTV’s Floribama Shore, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, at age 33, succumbing to liver failure after a two-week battle with necrotising pancreatitis in a Miami hospital.

Medas entered the ICU on April 18, 2025, fighting a severe case of necrotising pancreatitis, a condition where pancreatic tissue dies due to intense inflammation, potentially leading to organ failure. His family confirmed to TMZ that liver failure caused his death, despite medical efforts including ventilation and a medically induced coma. Lacking health insurance, Medas faced significant treatment challenges, prompting his family to launch a GoFundMe for medical and funeral costs, raising over $27,000.

Medas shone on Floribama Shore from 2017 to 2020, appearing in 25 episodes alongside Aimee Hall, Nilsa Prowant, and others. His infectious laugh and genuine connections endeared him to viewers. Co-star Nilsa Prowant shared on Instagram, “Kirk was always there, even walking my mom down the aisle.” Aimee Hall posted a heartfelt tribute, noting, “Kirk was the glue that held us together.” The show’s producer, SallyAnn Salsano, and 495 Productions mourned, saying, “Kirk brought light, laughter, and loyalty. He was family.”

Necrotising pancreatitis, as explained by the Cleveland Clinic, can cause severe complications, including organ damage, emphasising the need for early detection and care. Medas’ uninsured status highlights broader healthcare access issues, resonating with fans advocating for better medical support systems.
