A fishing boat carrying 19 fishermen capsized at Khuddi Creek along the Sindh coast in the Arabian Sea on Sunday, fishermen’s leader Younus Khaskheli said.
Khaskheli said divers immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation after the boat overturned in the open sea. All 19 fishermen on board were rescued and shifted to another vessel, he added.
Three fishermen sustained injuries in the incident, according to Khaskheli. The injured and other rescued fishermen were being brought back to shore.
The cause of the capsize was not immediately clear.
Khuddi Creek is a tidal creek in Sindh’s coastal belt near Chhannara and Khar Gap. Also known as Waddi Khuddi Creek, it forms part of the wider Indus River Delta region, where fishing boats regularly operate in changing tidal and sea conditions.
