Mutahhida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan escaped an assassination attempt in Buffer Zone area of Karachi on Saturday morning.
According to Deputy Inspector General Police (DIGP)-West Zulfiqar Ali Larik , a policeman and a passer-by dead while four others including a guard sustained injuries in the attack. A terrorist was killed in retaliatory fire by police.
Khawaja Izhar came under gun attack when he was on his way home after offering prayer of Eid-ul-Adha. The attackers in two motorcycles clad in police uniform.
Hassan explained in a statement following the attack that while he was uninjured, two of his guards and a citizen were reportedly wounded by the gunshots.

According to the latest updates, five people have been wounded in the attack.
Faisal Sabzwari, a senior party member had earlier said that 3-4 people were injured in the gunfire attack.

Inspector General of Police AD Khawaja and AIG Counter-terrorism Department reached the site after the attack.
Speaking to media AD Khawaja said that Khawaja Izhar upon noticing the ‘suspicious policemen’ asked his guard to check them, however, the attackers opened fire in return.
