Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated there were growing indications that Khamenei was “gone.” In a video statement, he said Israeli forces had struck the supreme leader’s compound and eliminated senior officials in Iran’s leadership and nuclear establishment.
Netanyahu described the strike as part of a broader campaign and said additional targets would be hit in the coming days.
Iranian state media characterised those killed as martyrs and framed the attack as part of a wider escalation involving the United States and Israel.
