On August 4, 2025, ESPN announced the hiring of content creator Katie Feeney, who has 14 million followers on social media, to enhance the network’s digital presence.

Feeney, a graduate of Penn State, will be contributing to ESPN’s social and digital initiatives, including daily updates for SportsCenter on Snapchat, which boasts over 9 million subscribers. Her role will involve producing short-form vertical video content that blends sports, fashion, and culture, as outlined in ESPN’s press release.

Feeney will appear on “Sunday NFL Countdown,” “Monday Night Countdown,” and “College GameDay,” bringing her unique, lifestyle-driven approach to engage younger audiences. She expressed, “From capturing Penn State games to joining the largest sports platform, this journey has been incredible. I’m proud to be part of ESPN’s storytelling for millions of fans.” Her previous work includes collaborations with Caitlin Clark and Gatorade, covering the 2025 Super Bowl, and serving as the Washington Commanders’ first social media correspondent in 2022.

The hiring reflects ESPN’s strategy to attract Gen Z and millennial viewers through social media influencers. Feeney’s massive following and sports content expertise position her to enhance ESPN’s digital reach, particularly on platforms like Snapchat. This move aligns with the network’s efforts to innovate and stay relevant in a competitive media landscape.

Feeney’s role at ESPN bridges sports and social media, tapping into her influence to engage a new generation of fans. This strategic hire could redefine sports broadcasting and boost ESPN’s digital presence.
