FBI Director Kash Patel, during a Joe Rogan Experience podcast interview, refused to comment on Elon Musk’s explosive claim that President Donald Trump’s presence in the Jeffrey Epstein files is delaying their full release.

The Kash Patel Epstein files controversy, sparked by Musk’s tweet, has intensified public and political scrutiny.

Musk tweeted, “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That’s the real reason they have not been made public,” prompting a stunned reaction from Rogan, who asked, “Does he have access to the Epstein files?”.

Elon Musk has claimed that President Trump is in the Epstein files.

Clearly taken aback, Patel replied, “I’m not sure how he would do that, but I’m just staying out of the Trump-Elon situation. That’s far beyond my area of expertise.” He then shifted the conversation to the FBI’s plans to release the surveillance video from Epstein’s jail cell, claiming that it confirms Epstein’s suicide in 2019.

The Epstein Files Controversy

Musk’s claim linking Trump to Epstein lacks evidence, although Trump and Epstein were known associates in the 1990s. Attorney General Pam Bondi released 200 pages of Epstein documents in February 2025, including flight logs and contact lists, and has called for more information from the FBI’s New York office. Democrats, including Representatives Robert Garcia and Stephen Lynch, have seized on Musk’s assertion, requesting full disclosure to clarify Trump’s involvement.

According to ABC News, Patel and Bondi are under pressure to release the remaining Epstein files, which are still thousands of pages sealed. Patel advocated for transparency, promising to release Epstein and Diddy-related lists, per Hindustan Times (Dec 2024). However, he and Deputy Director Dan Bongino have faced MAGA backlash for dismissing conspiracy theories, like Epstein’s murder. The FBI Epstein transparency effort continues, but no timeline for full release exists.

The Kash Patel Epstein files 2025 debate, fueled by the Musk Trump Epstein claim, underscores tensions over transparency and political accountability. As the Pam Bondi files release push and Joe Rogan podcast 2025 discussion amplify scrutiny, the controversy shapes public trust in the FBI and DOJ, drawing global attention to the Epstein case in 2025.
