President Hamid Karzai’s cousin Hashmat Karzai, a close ally of presidential candidate Ashraf Ghani, was killed early morning today in a suicide bomb attack at his home.
The governor’s office in the southern province of Kandahar has confirmed the death of Hashmat Karzai.
According to the Governors Office, Hashmat Karzai was hosting an event at his home when a man disguise as a guest below himself as Karzai greeted him.
A spokesman for the provincial governor said “His style was very modern, everything was new, and when he came to talk with Hashmat Khalil and wish him a happy Eid, he blew himself up,”
There was no claim of responsibility yet. However, suicide attacks have been a favourite tactic of the Taliban
