In preparation for the 12th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024, Karachi Traffic Police have announced traffic restrictions along Shahrah-e-Faisal from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday.

Karachi traffic police spokesperson has announced that traffic from Drigh Road to Karasaz will close in both directions. Additionally, authorities will block routes from Karasaz to Hassan Square and Habib Ibrahim Rahimtoola Road. Traffic headed for the airport will reroute; it cannot proceed via Karasaz Road and Stadium Road but will divert from Drigh Road to Rashid Minhas Road and then towards NIPA via Millennium Mall.

Authorities will also reroute traffic from the FTC and Nursery areas toward Karasaz or the airport. Motorists should take Shaheed-e-Millat Road starting from the Baloch Colony Bridge area. The spokesperson also advised that traffic from Jail Chowrangi could use routes through Hassan Square, NIPA, and Rashid Minhas Road. Access to the Expo Center or Stadium Road from University Road will face restrictions.

Moreover, authorities will direct vehicles on University Road away from Stadium Road, Karasaz, and Millennium Mall towards alternate routes such as Jail Chowrangi, Peoples Chowrangi, or Shaheed-e-Millat Road.

The traffic police have released a detailed plan for managing traffic during IDEAS 2024, which runs from November 19 to 22 at the Expo Centre Karachi. This plan includes road closures around the Expo Centre from 7 am to 7 pm, impacting the Hassan Square Flyover to National Stadium Road, both flyovers on Stadium Road, and Dalmia Road from the Stadium Signal to Hassan Square.

They will also close the left turn from University Road’s Nipa intersection to the Expo Centre. Heavy and commercial vehicles will reroute from Rashid Minhas Road to Drig Road. These vehicles may alternatively use Shaheed Millat Road and Teen Hatti Road.

Traffic management during the event will feature several designated diversion points, such as PP Chowrangi to Shaheed Millat Road and Liaquatabad No. 10 to Teen Hatti. Exceptions to these traffic restrictions will apply only to authorized IDEAS 2024 participants and organizers. The public is requested to cooperate with traffic authorities to ensure a smooth traffic flow and the event’s success.
