In Karachi’s Korangi Industrial Area, a police officer’s decision to participate in creating a TikTok video at the station led to his suspension after the video became widely circulated online.
The video featured a woman smoking a cigarette and the uniformed officer sitting beside her. This incident prompted SSP Korangi Kamran Khan to take swift action, suspending the officer and initiating a formal inquiry.
Kamran Khan noted that the officer involved was identified as ASI Safdar, who served as the station house officer in Korangi. Safdar was immediately relieved from his duties and launched a comprehensive investigation.
IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has enforced a strict policy prohibiting police officers and personnel from producing TikTok videos in uniform, especially within police premises. Despite these regulations, instances of non-compliance continue as videos involving police personnel frequently emerge on social media platforms.
IG Sindh has issued stern directives emphasizing the need for immediate and decisive action against any police personnel making inappropriate or disrespectful videos. These measures aim to preserve the integrity and discipline of the police force.
Despite clear instructions, the Sindh Police spokesperson reported that personnel often disregarded these bans, resulting in recurrent viral incidents on social media.
