KARACHI, Sindh: Dairy farmers warned of a possible Karachi milk shortage after a fodder dealer’s strike disrupted animal-feed supplies from Sindh and Balochistan.
The Dairy Farmers Association asked Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to intervene urgently and restore the movement of fodder into the city. The association also contacted the Sindh chief secretary, Karachi commissioner and inspector general of police.
According to the association, fodder transportation has remained suspended since July 20, leaving dairy farms with a severe shortage of feed for cattle.
Association representative Shaukat Mukhtar said continued disruptions could reduce milk production and supply across Karachi.

The association urged provincial authorities to reopen supply routes from Sindh and Balochistan before the shortage affects livestock health and daily milk production. It said prolonged feed scarcity could lead to nutritional problems for cattle at the city’s dairy farms.
Karachi’s administration raised the official retail price of fresh milk from PKR 220 to PKR 240 per litre, effective from April 1, 2026. It fixed the dairy-farm rate at PKR 215 and the wholesale rate at PKR 225 per litre.
